RENO, Nev. -- Jasmine Gross and Nikki Lyons propelled the Pepperdine women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Nevada on Saturday afternoon in the Virginia Street Gym. The Waves (8-5) collected 25-23, 27-25, 22-25 and 25-18 set scores for the victory over the Wolf Pack (2-10) to go 2-1 on the weekend.
Gross (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) tied her career-best 15 kill-effort while adding her second-ever double-double with a season-best 10 blocks. Lyons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) tabbed her 12th-career double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs.

Pepperdine marked 53 kills on a .215 hitting percentage during the match, while allowing the Wolf Pack 57 kills on a .142 output. The Waves out-blocked the opposition with 15.0 team blocks, compared to 7.0 throughout the match. Pepperdine also posted 51 assists, five aces and 57 digs, while Nevada was good for 55 assists, four aces and 68 digs.

The Wolf Pack broke out to an early 9-5 lead in the first set, but the Waves rallied back to tie things up at 16's. Pepperdine then put up a few points to grab the lead with the help of smashes from Lyons and Gross and a Malibu Roofing Company rejection from Gross and Frohling. After a 23-23 tied score, Gross put up a kill and Dyer sealed the deal with an ace to win the set and put the Waves up 10- in the match.
In the second set, Pepperdine had the control from the beginning, amassing a two-point lead though to the 14-12 mark. The opposition tied the match, but the Waves held on and continued to hold the slight advantage en route to a 24-20 lead. Nevada came back late to tie the set at 24-24 and force extra points, but the Waves buckled down and a final kill from Lyons and a block from Dyer and O'Harra earned the Waves a 2-0 match advantage with a 27-25 set win.
Nevada took hold of the third set after an 11-11 tie and built a 20-15 lead over the Waves. Despite a late comeback effort from Pepperdine, the home team secured a 25-22 set win to send the match to a fourth.
Pepperdine took the lead early in the fourth set and continued to extend the gap en route to an 18-11 lead late in the set with Lishman's second ace and smashes from Harris and O'Harra to help the cause. Late in the set, Gross and Dyer collaborated on another blocks and Gross tied her career-best 15th kill to end the set 25-18 in the Waves' favor for a 3-1 Pepperdine win.
