2021 Men's Golf - NCAA Champions When the 2020 season ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pepperdine men's golf team was ranked #1 in the country. Some thought that the Waves' time had passed, but Pepperdine instead won its second championship in the sport. The Waves entered the NCAA Championships seeded ninth, but finished third in stroke play. The Waves then beat three heavyweights -- Florida State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma -- over two days of match play at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Fifth-year senior Clay Feagler picked up the championship-clinching point on the 18th hole in front of a huge contingent of Pepperdine fans and families as the Waves beat the Sooners 3-2 in the final.
|
2014 Women's Sand Volleyball - AVCA Champions The Waves won their second AVCA national championship in three years back in Gulf Shores, Ala. Pepperdine (18-1) avenged its only defeat of the season to top-ranked USC in the semifinals (3-2), then battled back to edge Florida State in the championship, also by a score of 3-2. The Seminoles took a 2-1 lead before Kellie Woolever and Kelley Larsen won a three-set battle at the #1 position, and then the #2 team of Becca Strehlow and Lara Dykstra won in straight sets to clinch the title.

2012 Women's Sand Volleyball - AVCA Champions In the inaugural season of collegiate sand volleyball, Pepperdine was unmatched among the first set of schools to adopt the NCAA emerging sport. Led by former beach great Nina Matthies, the Waves steamrolled the competition and posted a 14-0 overall record. At the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., the Waves posted wins in the double-elimination team event over College of Charleston (5-0), Long Beach State (3-0) and Long Beach State again (4-0). It was Pepperdine's 12th national championship by its teams, but first by a women's program. Lilla Frederick, Kim Hill, Caitlin Racich and Summer Ross were named All-Americans.

2006 Men's Tennis - NCAA Champions The Pepperdine men's tennis program reached the pinnacle of its sport in 2006, as the Waves captured the national championship at Stanford's Taube Tennis Center. The Waves had lost their only two matches of the regular season to Texas and Georgia. In the semifinals, the Waves beat the Longhorns, 4-1, and in the championship, Pepperdine upset the top-ranked and previously unbeaten Bulldogs, 4-2. Head coach Adam Steinberg's squad led the Waves to an incredible 36-2 season, which marked the most wins ever accumulated by a national championship team. Ivor Lovrak was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Performer, and he, Pedro Rico, Andre Begemann and Omar Altmann were named to the All-Tournament Team in singles.

Marv Dunphy coached the Waves to the program's fifth national title and his fourth in as many decades. In the championship match against the Bruins, Pepperdine rallied back from being down 2-1 and handed UCLA its first postseason loss at Pauley Pavilion.
