#25 Women's Soccer Travels to Portland

MALIBU, California — The #25 Pepperdine women's soccer team is tied atop the West Coast Conference standings and looks to keep its run of success going at Portland. Trinity Watson has won two straight WCC Defensive Player of the Week awards and the Waves have received the honor three weeks in a row.
MATCH #7 — Friday (March 19) at Merlo Field in Portland, Oregon: #25 Pepperdine (4-2-0, 3-0-0) at Portland (2-2-1, 1-2-1) at 1 p.m.

OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 8-16-2 all-time against Portland, though the Waves are unbeaten (5-0-1) in the last six meetings. Pepperdine is 3-9-1 at Portland, though 2-0-1 in the last three there. In the last meeting in Malibu in 2019, the Waves won 2-1 with Trinity Watson scoring the first goal.
LAST MATCH — The Waves scored three goals in the first 10 minutes and five goals in the first 20 minutes en route to a 6-1 victory at Pacific last Saturday. Six first-half goals tied a program record. Trinity Watson scored twice and Madi Cook had a goal and an assist.
AWARDS — Trinity Watson was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week on March 9 after a shutout win vs. San Francisco in which she assisted on the game-winning goal, and again on March 16 after her two-goal game at Pacific. Nine different players have scored the Waves' 13 goals this season (Tori Waldeck and Trinity Watson, with three apiece, are the only players with multiple goals) ... ANDERSON — Senior midfielder Joelle Anderson was picked in the third round of the 2021 NWSL Draft by the Houston Dash, but she's got business to finish in Malibu before she joins the pros. The three-time All-WCC pick (two-time first team) and two-time All-West Region honoree (2019 first team) has accumulated 22 goals (ninth all-time at Pepperdine), nine game-winning goals (tied for sixth), 14 assists and 58 points in her career. Anderson was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy preseason watch list.
