WAVEPOINTS
• After a strong showing at USC resulted in a close loss, the Pepperdine men's basketball team will try to bounce back in one of its few early-season home games on Saturday versus Sacramento State.
• After a career-high 38 points at USC, Colbey Ross now leads the WCC in both scoring (21.2) and assists (7.2). The 38 points were the most ever by a Wave against a Power 5 school.
• Ross continues his march toward the program's all-time assist record. He's gone from #5 to #2 on the list already this season and now has 454. All that's left to pass is Jeremy Major's total of 494.
• The trio of Ross and the Edwards brothers has combined to score 65.7% of the Waves' points this season.
• Kameron Edwards (17.0 ppg) is third in the WCC in scoring and Kessler Edwards (14.2 ppg) is 12th.
• The Waves have made 80% of their free throws or better in each of the first five games and they rank second nationally at 84.7%.
• Just two of the Waves' first nine games are at home.
• Pepperdine has already beaten two 2019 NCAA Tournament teams (UC Irvine and Abilene Christian).
• Last year's Waves won 10 more games than the year before — one of just four times in school history Pepperdine has improved by double-digits in the win column. Lorenzo Romar has been the head coach for two of them.
• The Waves are currently in a stretch of six of seven games away from home. Next up is the Wooden Legacy in Anaheim, where the Waves will open with #14 Arizona on Thanksgiving night.
WAVECASTS — Saturday's game can be watched online via WaveCasts on the WCC Network. Veteran play-by-play man Al Epstein, a 2015 Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be behind the microphone (now in his 35th season, this will be his 1,043rd consecutive broadcast for the Waves).
TICKETS — Single-game tickets for most Pepperdine home games are $25 for reserved seating, $15 for adult general admission and $12 for alumni or child general admission. Select premium games are $30, $20 and $15, respectively. Tickets are available via PepperdineWaves.com or by calling (310) 506-4764.
PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #50 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
