Men’s Basketball Signs Israel’s Oren Sahar

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine men's basketball head coach Griff Aldrich has announced the signing of Oren Sahar from Israel ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Sahar is a 6-4 guard from Tel Aviv, Israel, who joins the Waves after playing with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
We are excited to have Oren join our program and team, noted Aldrich. A highly talented guard, Oren possesses many of the skills we look for in recruiting our playmaking guards. A scoring guard by nature, Oren is also a great passer and facilitator and will be another player we expect to adapt quickly into our system and style of play
He recently starred at the FIBA U19 World Cup in June 2025 in Switzerland, posting 17.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in six contests. He helped lead Israel to a seventh-place finish after going 3-0 in group play to win to top the group. He also appeared in seven games at the Euro U18 Championship the summer prior.
Currently competing at the Euro U20 Championships, Sahar has averaged 14 points, five rebounds and 4.7 assists in three games as the leading scorer for Israel while picking up wins over Romania and Czech Republic.
Sahar played his club basketball for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, who also compete internationally in the EuroLeague. He posted 4.6 points per game in limited minutes across 18 appearances in 2025-26, shooting 35-percent from three-point range. Sahar and Maccabi Tel Aviv eventually defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv in the finals to capture the league's championship.
Sahar was promoted to the first team ahead of the 2025-26 campaign after competing for Maccabi Tel Aviv-Shoham in the second division for two seasons.

Pepperdine men's basketball has made 13 NCAA postseason appearances while earning 12 WCC Regular-Season Championships and three WCC Tournament Championships in its history. The program has also seen 19 All-Americans along with 19 NBA players, which included a streak of 34 consecutive seasons with at least one alum on an NBA roster from 1976-2011.
