MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine men's basketball head coach Griff Aldrich has announced the signing of incoming freshman Alex Constanza from Spire Academy ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Constanza is a 6-8 wing from Miami, Florida, who played this past season at Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, after playing four varsity seasons at Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale.
Constanza is the No. 47 ranked Class of 2026 prospect in the ESPN SCNEXT 100 rankings, while coming in at No. 58 in the Rivals rankings, and is No. 59 in the 247sports composite rankings. A consensus 4-star prospect, he becomes the highest-ranked recruit on record to join the Waves.
"We are thrilled to have Alex join our program," said Aldrich. "Alex is a very dynamic player with tremendous skill for a player his size. His ability to impact the game with positional size will be a tremendous complement to our current roster. We are eager to get started working with Alex and to help him continue to develop into an outstanding player and young man."
He played his final high school season at Spire, one of the top prep basketball programs in the country, competing in the Nike EYBL Scholastic League. Constanza was named to the 2025-26 preseason watch list for the Naismith Prep Player of the Year, which is awarded annually to the top high school basketball player in the country.
During his junior season in 2024-25, Constanza posted 29.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He had 10 double-doubles in 14 games for Westminster, and logged over a steal and block per game while shooting 61% from the field and over 50% from deep. His scoring output also ranked third in the state of Florida that season.
As a sophomore in 2023-24, he put up 20.9 points, 9.7 boards, 4.9 assists and 1.8 blocks per game on an efficient 57% from the floor and 51% from three-point range.
He played varsity for Westminster as a freshman and eighth-grader as well, averaging over 14 points and six rebounds in both seasons, while being over 48% from the field in each. In his four years at Westminster, he scored 1,700 points in 89 games.
On the AAU circuit, Constanza starred in Puma's PRO16 league, competing for Team Scoot 17U. This past summer, he averaged 29 points and 11 rebounds and was named First Team All-Circuit, finishing fourth in the league in scoring.
On the international level, Constanza participated in training camp for the 2024 USA Basketball U18 National Team in May 2024, also attending the USA Junior National Team minicamp that year. In 2023, he attended USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamps in Colorado Springs and Houston.
