MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine women's volleyball team has only one match on the docket this week, making a short trip to take on UC Irvine on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Following this week, the Waves will open West Coast Conference action on the road against Portland and Gonzaga.

SQUAD GOALS — The Waves have amassed a 6-3 record after three weeks of play, going 2-1 in last week to close out the tournament push at Texas A&M. As a team, Pepperdine produces 14.40 kills/set on a .285 success rate along with 13.47 assists/set, 1.70 aces/set, 15.03 digs/set and 1.67 bocks/set. The Waves allow opponents 10.97 kills/set on a .194 output, along with 10.43 assists/set, 0.93 aces/set, 13.23 digs/set and 2.10 blocks/set.
As a team, the Waves rank 13th nationally and 2nd in the conference with 14.40 kills/set, 18th nationally with 13.79 assists/set and 15th nationally with a 0.285 hitting percentage so far this season.
Blossom Sato ranks 23rd nationally after averaging 11.27 assists/set in nine matches.

Hana Lishman all rank nationally in separate categories as well.
CANNONS — Shannon Scully,
Hannah Frohling and
Rachel Ahrens lead the Waves with 3.59, 3.00 and 2.76 kills/set averages respectively. Scully was the first Wave to hit for 100-kills this season with 104 smashes marked on a .275 success rate. She adds a team-high 13-aces for 0.45 aces/set, 2.76 digs/set and 0.24 blocks/set as well. Frohling has marked a .236 hitting percentage on 81 kills, along with 0.33 aces/set, 1.26 digs/set and 0.52 blocks/set. Ahrens is good for a .316 output on 80 smashes, 1.72 digs/set and 0.55 blocks/set.
MALIBU ROOFING COMPANY — Tarah Wylie and
Alli O'Harra have been the main managers in the Malibu Roofing Company, amassing 0.77 and 0.74 blocks/set respectively. Wylie has tallied 2.30 kills/set on a .391 hitting percentage, as well as 23 blocks including two solo rejections. O'Harra has posted 1.96 kills/set on a .280 output, along with 20 blocks including two solos. Ahrens and Frohling have also reached the double-figure block mark for the season with 16 and 14 blocks respectively.
Rosie Ballo has also spent time in the middle this season, amassing 0.62 blocks/set for the Waves.
PLAYMAKERS — Blossom Sato is Pepperdine's primary playmaker, ranking 23rd nationally with 11.27 assists/set. She has dished out 338 total assists this season thus far. She also has helped her team to 14.40 kills/set and a .285 success rate on the offensive, which both rank nationally. She has also marked 0.43 kills/set on a .367 clip and 2.13 digs/set.
DIGGERS — Hana Lishman has started in the libero position in all matches this season, totaling 114 digs for 3.80 digs/set. She has also added 18 assists for 0.60 assists/set and eight aces for the Waves. In her first match this season, she was solid in the back line with 26 digs, and in seven matches this season she has marked double-figure digs.
Jaiden Farr and
Madison Shields have also entered matches for defensive support, amassing 1.10 and 1.41 digs/set respectively
LAST WEEK, TODAY — Last week, the Waves went 2-1 at the Texas A&M Invitational, first falling to A&M before sweeping Missouri State and Nicholls State. Against the tournament-host, the Waves fell with 25-20, 25-18 and 25-22 final set scores. Pepperdine posted a .069 output with 30 kills on 101 swings, along with seven aces, 32 digs and 3.0 blocks. The opposition tallied 35 kills on a .227 clip, with eight aces, 40 digs and 7.0 team blocks.
Rachel Ahrens led the team with seven kills along with three digs, while
Tarah Wylie,
Shannon Scully and
Hannah Frohling marked five kills apiece. Scully and
Alli O'Harra led with two aces and each O'Harra and Frohling had two blocks.
Hana Lishman led the squad with nine digs.
In the sweep over Missouri State, the Waves posted 42 smashes on a .292 success rate with 13 aces, 43 digs and 7.0 team blocks. The Bears were good for 26 kills on a .125 hitting percentage with three aces, 33 digs and 6.0 team blocks. The Waves won with 25-15, 25-16 and 25-18 set scores. For Pepperdine, Scully and Frohling hit for .333 percent with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Frohling added two aces, two blocks and three digs. Scully added a double-double with 12 digs and amassed a tied team-high of four aces alongside Lishman. Wylie added eight kills on a .462 output and a team-best five blocks and Ahrens was good for five kills and two aces.
Blossom Sato had a team-high 38 assists and added seven digs, while Lishman finished up with 12 digs as well.
In the final match, Pepperdine won with 25-10, 25-15 and 25-17 final set scores against Nicholls State. The Waves put up 36 smashes with a .306 output, along with seven aces, 43 digs and 6.0 team blocks. The opposition amassed 21 kills on a .022 success rate, with one ace, 31 digs and 6.0 team blocks.
Heidi Dyer and Wylie led with nine kills apiece, while Dyer added two blocks and Wylie added four and a .533 hitting percentage. Lishman and
Jaiden Farr each marked 10 digs, while
Lily Dyer added eight digs and a team-best 19 assists. Wylie put down three aces and Sato added 11 assists, two aces and four digs as well.
THE COMPETITION — Pepperdine holds a 13-2 all-time record over UC Irvine, dating back to the 1976 season when the Waves won the first-ever matchup 2-0. The Waves went on a four-match winning streak until the Anteaters won their first match in 1982 in four sets. Pepperdine then went on another streak with 10-wins from 1982-2000 before UCI took the most recent win with a five-set victory in 2014. This season, Irvine has gone 3-6, most recently sweeping Cleveland State and Bowling Green and falling to Illinois in straight-sets.
