WAVEPOINTS
• The Pepperdine-CSUN men's basketball game, originally scheduled for November 10 but postponed due to the Woolsey Fire, will be held Monday night.
• To thank those who protected Malibu and beyond, Monday has been designated "First Responders Appreciation Night" and first responders and their families will receive free tickets and food, while there will also be a special t-shirt giveaway for fans in attendance.
• Monday's game will feature three-fourths of the UCLA coaching staff that won the 1995 NCAA championship. Lorenzo Romar and CSUN Coach Mark Gottfried were assistants on that team, while CSUN assistant Jim Harrick was the Bruins' head coach (as well as a former Pepperdine head coach).
• Romar's second stint as head coach with the Waves is well underway. Romar now has 396 career wins, five shy of a milestone 400.
• Heading into the eighth game of the season, the Waves have the opportunity to already match last season's win total of six. The Waves are trying for their first four-game win streak since January 2016. Their 5-2 record is their best seven-game start since 2014-15 (also 5-2, which extended to 7-2).
• Colbey Ross is sixth in the WCC in scoring (19.3) and third in assists (6.4).
• Kessler Edwards has had back-to-back season highs of 18 points vs. Idaho State and 19 points vs. Abilene Christian.
• The Waves hope to stay healthy after being decimated by injuries the last two years. They lost 99 player-games in 2016-17 and 81 in 2017-18. But, last year's leading scorer, Kameron Edwards, has already missed four games, including the last three.
• This is the end of a three-game homestand. The Waves next visit UC Riverside on Thursday before returning home to face Jackson State on Saturday. Pepperdine is in a stretch of four games in eight days.
• To help Pepperdine students affected or displaced by the recent Woolsey Fire, please visit impact.pepperdine.edu/crisisresponse.
WAVECASTS — Monday's game can be watched online via WaveCasts on TheW.tv. Veteran play-by-play man Al Epstein, a 2015 Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be behind the microphone (now in his 34th season, this will be his 1,011th consecutive broadcast for the Waves).
TICKETS — Single-game tickets for most Pepperdine home games are $25 for reserved seating, $15 for adult general admission and $12 for child general admission. Select premium games are $30, $20 and $12, respectively. Tickets are available via PepperdineWaves.com or by calling (310) 506-4935.
PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #46 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
