The opposition worked ahead early in the second set towards a 14-7 lead, but Pepperdine closed the gap and tie things up with an 8-1 run courtesy of blocks from Clay Carr. After a few back and forth points, the Waves put the set away on a strong service performance from Robert Mullahey and a final block from Jack Cole and Harriman.
UCSB came out strong again in the third set and the Waves were unable to come back this time. After a 13-10 lead in the middle of the set, the opposition stayed three-points ahead throughout for a 25-22 set win to pull ahead 2-1.
In the fourth and final set, Pepperdine gained the early advantage with kills from Harriman and Noah Dyer en route to a 16-13 lead. The Gauchos were able to close the gap on a 3-0 run of their own and continued on towards a 25-23 final set score.
