
Waves Roll Past San Francisco in Three-Set Road Sweep

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Pepperdine women's volleyball team recorded a 3-0 sweep at War Memorial Gym over West Coast Conference opponent San Francisco on Saturday afternoon, collecting 25-17, 25-13 and 25-15 set wins. Jasmine Gross led the team with 13 kills on a record breaking .867 success rate.

She also broke the Pepperdine women's volleyball all-time single season block record (including both sideout and rally scoring eras) with her 167th block of the season against Santa Clara on Thursday. That record has stood at 158 blocks since the 1991 and 1992 seasons when Lesli Asplund and Barbara Stross broke it in 111 and 109 sets respectively. Her season block total stands at 170 after today.
Gross also broke Pepperdine women's volleyball program's single season block record for the rally scoring era in last week's match against Gonzaga, a record she had set in her 2016 freshman campaign at 154 blocks last season. Before 2016, the record stood at 143 blocks by Sophia Milo which happened in 2005.

In the second set, USF once again worked ahead 5-1 early, but the Waves were close behind and tied the set at a 9-9 score. After that, the Waves went on a 12-3 run courtesy of blocks from Harris and Gross and multiple smashes from O'Harra and Frohling. The Waves dominated the final moments and a kill from Gross, ace from Farr and smash from Adria Johnson put the Waves up 2-0 on the day with a 25-13 set win.
Pepperdine dominated the opening of the third and eventual final set, amassing a 6-2 lead with a block collaboration from Harris and Gross. USF countered to tie the set at 12's, but the Waves started to roll after a pair of aces from Dyer put the team up 19-14. Late in the set, a pair of kills from Gross closed things down with a 25-15 set win and the 3-0 Waves' WCC victory.
