
Waves Felled in Four by Loyola Marymount

MALIBU, Calif. -- The Pepperdine women's volleyball team was felled by PCH Cup rivals Loyola Marymount in a four-set West Coast Conference match-up in Firestone Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. The Lions earned the conference win with 14-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-14 set wins.
Seniors Ashley Harris and Adria Johnson were honored prior to the start of the match.

First, Ashley Harris has been with the Waves for two seasons, making a tremendous impact on and off the court. While representing the blue and orange, she has played in 179 sets and 51 matches, collecting 294 kills and 1.62 kills/set. She has also marked 138 total blocks to average 0.77 blocks/set. She is a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete that will graduate in April with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
Now, Adria Johnson has been with the Waves for three seasons. In 56 sets played and 34 total matches, she has been the first Wave off the bench for serve support and amassed five aces and 95 total service attempts for a .936 serve percentage. Her 3.52 grade point average helped her to Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete status and WCC Commissioner's

The roles were reversed in the second set as LMU pulled ahead to a 10-3 lead early on. After an attempt to close the gap, the Lions evened up the match 1-1 with a 25-15 second set win.
The Lions pulled ahead in set three, but the Waves stayed close behind through the 8-10 mark. Pepperdine was unable close the gap completely, however, and LMU earned the 25-20 set win for a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth.
Loyola Marymount came out strong in the fourth set intent on shutting the match down. The Waves attempted to close the gap, but the Lions were fueled by the momentum and secured a 25-14 set win for the 3-1 WCC victory.
