Freshman Jasmine Gross (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS), was a wall at the net with seven total blocks, including one solo rejection. She added seven kills and five digs as well. Sophomore Nikki Lyons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) put in nine kills on a team-high 40 swings, and added six digs.

Freshman libero Hana Lishman (Kailua, Hawai'i/Punahou School) led the team with 21 digs, hitting over 20-digs in one match for the second time this season.

In the first match of the day, the Waves came out strong against the SMU Mustangs, amassing a quick 12-7 lead over the opposition to open play. Pepperdine maintained a lead throughout most of the set, but late in the effort, SMU rallied to tie it up 22-22. After three kills from Dyer, but an equal effort from the Mustangs, the match stood at a 25-25 stall. Then, the Waves put up two quick blocks, first on a communal effort from Gross and fellow freshman Hannah Frohling (Edmond, Okla./Edmond North HS), and then followed up on a solo rejection from Gross gave the Waves the 27-25 edge.

In the second set, both teams went back-and-forth, eventually hitting a 10-10 tie before the opposition would slowly pull away. After an 18-13 lead, the advantage was in the Mustangs court, and SMU evened the match with a 25-21 win.

After the 10-minute gap and some words of wisdom from head coach Scott Wong, the Waves came out in the third set energized. After a 10-10 tie in the middle of the set, Pepperdine started to inch away, amassing a 14-11 lead on a few kills from Gross. The Mustangs battled back to tie the set at 14's, but Pepperdine refused to roll over and a kill from Dyer and service ace from Wylie gave the Waves a 21-19 cushion. After back-to-back lead changes and timeouts, the Waves forced an attack error and closed the set with a kill from Lyons, 25-23.

Fueled after the high-intensity third set, the Waves came out of the starting gate with their arms in full swing for the fourth. Pepperdine amassed a 10-6 lead early on and continued to pound down over the opposition en route to a 14-7 advantage. With the Waves up 22-16 late in the set, Lyons and wylie produced back-to-back kills and a few SMU service errors ended the set and match with a 25-19 Waves' win.

Juniors Maddie Dilfer (Saratoga, Calif./Valley Christian HS/Notre Dame) ended the day with 20 assists and six digs and Ashley Harris (Petaluma, Calif./Casa Grande HS/Arizona) posted six digs on a .211 success rate, with two blocks and three digs. Frohling (Edmond, Okla./Edmond North HS) ended the day with five kills and four digs as well. Junior Ashley Morgan (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Canyon HS) also produced from the back row with 15 digs.
