Wong Matches Program Record as Women's Golf Moves to Second Following Two Rounds at NCAA Regionals
5/12/2026 5:30:00 PM | Women's Golf
Pepperdine shot -6 as a team on the day which was the second lowest round from any team, moving to -7 for the tournament and into second place on the team leaderboard. The Waves trail host Stanford (-26) by 19 strokes while sitting 13 strokes ahead of sixth place Missouri (+6), as the top five teams at the regional will qualify for the NCAA Championships later this month in Carlsbad.Â
Wong's -8 mark on the day moved her into solo second place, one stroke back of the lead with 18 holes left to play Wednesday. The 63 and the -8 each mark the lowest round from any Wave in NCAA postseason play.
"It was a good day for the Waves moving up to second place," said head coach Laurie Gibbs. "It was a great round by Jeneath as her game is ready to finish her collegiate career strong at Regionals and Nationals!"
Wong's historic round began with a 29 on the front nine, as she eventually made seven birdies on the first ten holes, including all three par-3s to that point. Her lone birdie on a par-5 on the day came on the 12th, which was followed by two pars, with her ninth birdie of the round then coming on 15 to put her -9. Wong concluded the round with a par, bogey on 17 and then par on the 18th to post the 63. Her 63 was one stroke back of the NCAA Regional record, set in 2025 at 62 (-10). She surged up the individual leaderboard with the low round of the tournament so far, now sitting in second at -8.
Eunseo Choi continued her consistent play for the Waves, carding a 70 (-1) on the day to move to -3 for the tournament. Choi is currently tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard, and is one of six players in the field to be under par in both rounds so far, with three of those six coming from host Stanford. Choi began her round with birdies on one and four, eventually making the turn at -2 for the round. She rolled in one of her four birdies of the day on the back nine, making par on the final four holes to post the 70.
Kylee Choi shot her second straight even par round, putting herself in a tie for 18th individually. Choi carded a 34 on the front nine with birdies on seven and nine, carding her third birdie of the day on the 14th. Her round concluded with consecutive bogeys to post the 71.
Grace Anderson moved to 30th place individually at +4 for the tournament, recording a 74 (+3) in Tuesday's second round. Anderson was four over on the front nine, recovering with three birdies on the back to get in with the 74.Â
Yingzhi Zhu posted a 78 (+7) in the second round, moving to +10 on the week which puts her in 50th place individually. Zhu made a pair of birdies on the front nine for a 36, before shooting a 42 on the back nine.
