No. 13 Women’s Golf Readies For Dick McGuire Invitational to Open Fall Season

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — No. 13 Pepperdine women's golf is set to begin the 2026-27 campaign at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will take place this Monday and Tuesday from the UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, hosted by the University of New Mexico. Monday will feature the opening two rounds with the final round set for Tuesday.
The Waves will tee off from holes 1-4 tomorrow for the 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring for the tournament can be found here.
"The players are ready to start the 2026-27 season," noted head coach Laurie Gibbs. "The course at New Mexico is a great test and we look forward to competing. Our goal is to win the WCC Championship and return to match play at the NCAA Championship next May. Go Waves!"
It marks Pepperdine's 22 second appearance in the event, having placed top-five in its past six times competing in the tournament dating back to 2018. The Waves have won the tournament on four occasions (2005, 2009, 2013, 2023) and placed third in its most recent showing in 2024.
The field for the tournament this year includes CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, Fresno State, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, No. 13 Pepperdine, Sacramento State, Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, UC Irvine and UNLV.
The Waves enter the season at No. 13 in the Golf Channel Preseason Rankings, while coming in at No. 14 in the Golfweek rankings.
Eunseo Choi received Preseason Second Team All-American recognition from the Golf Channel with Kylee Choi tabbing Preseason Third Team All-American honors. Kaya Daluwatte was named to the Golf Channel Preseason All-Freshman Second Team.
Eunseo Choi was also named a Preseason Second Team All-American from Golfweek while landing on the ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List. Eunseo Choi and Kylee Choi are each coming off All-American campaigns in 2025-26, while claiming WCC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors, respectively.
The Waves return five members from the 2025-26 squad that advanced to match play at the NCAA Championships in Grace Anderson, Eunseo Choi, Kylee Choi, Irene Kim and Nishna Patel. The program welcomed two newcomers in the offseason, adding freshman Kaya Daluwatte and junior transfer Katelyn Kong.

The Waves will return next week at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, set for Sept. 21-23 at Red Sky Ranch and Golf Course in Wolcott, Colo.
