Baseball Visits LMU For Weekend Series

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Pepperdine baseball is headed across town to visit Loyola Marymount in a three-game West Coast Conference weekend series.Â

LMU sits at the bottom of the WCC standings with a 2-10 conference record, losing their last four games. Pepperdine has dropped four of their last five but find themselves right in the thick of the West Coast Conference standings (tied for fourth place).

The Waves will trot out southpaw Casey Euper in the series opener on Friday, with the left-hander sparkling a 3.18 ERA, good for fourth-best in the conference. Euper has posted a quality start in each of his last two appearances, most recently against Pacific on April 10, where he surrendered three runs (all earned) on six hits in six innings.

WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?
Redshirt junior starting pitcher Collin Valentine has provided the Waves consistency on the hill this season. The southpaw ranks third on the team in ERA (4.29) while working 42.0 innings so far this season, second-most only behind Tommy Scavone's 50.1 following his start on Sunday. He has sat down lefties this season, allowing just a .135 average (5-for-37) against left-handed batters.
Right-hander Tommy Scavone will return to the hill on Saturday for Pepperdine. The Waves have done well behind Scavone in his last several starts, winning three of his last four outings (the only loss was by one run). Scavone has gone at least 5.1 innings in his last five starts, including at least 6.0 innings in three straight starts from March 13-March 28. He improved his record to an even 3-3 after a victory over Pacific on April 11.Â

WINNING WITH WECHSBERG
Graduate pitcher Lucien Wechsberg has been one of the most reliable Waves' arms this season. In 17.1 innings, Lucien has recorded a 2.60 ERA along with a 1.50 WHIP. He has given up 17 hits while striking out 16 and walking nine. Opponents are hitting .262 off of Wechsberg, who has been involved in seven of the Waves' 11 wins (three wins, four saves). He has shined the brightest when runners are on base, allowing just a .194 opponent batting average (7-for-36).

SHAWN'S GRAND SALAMI
Freshman catcher Shawn Romero made the memory of a lifetime on April 11 by hitting his first collegiate home run, which happened to be a grand slam. His long ball put the dagger in a 10-3 win for the Waves over Pacific. Romero has just 35 at-bats on the season but boasts' a .405 on-base percentage and has tallied 5 RBI and 15 total bases, which ranks 10th on the team despite having the 13th-most at-bats on the squad.

Catcher Max Aude has been consistent behind the plate and in the batter's box this season. Number nine is hitting .262 entering Friday's clash with LMU and has been one of Pepperdine's best hitters with runners on base, recording a .393 average (11-for-28). He has been just as good with runners in scoring position, boasting a .500 average (7-for-14).

CORE FOUR
Daniel Patterson has been guiding the Waves' offense this season amongst a quad of solid offensive players. Patterson leads the squad with 14 multi-hit games, while Julian Nunez has 10. Kai Laxa has racked up eight, the third-most on the team. James Dell'Amico is right behind him with eight. Patterson extended his hitting streak to a team-best 10 games on Sunday, while 'Delly' and Laxa once carried an eight-game streak of such.

Freshman Nash Horton had made a great impact in the Waves' lineup this season, recording a .262 average through 65 at-bats. He has driven in seven, scored seven runs, drawn eight walks, and been hit by a pitch once to post a .347 on-base percentage.

DAN IS THE MAN
Daniel Patterson has been putting up all-conference numbers this season, boasting a .305 average while rocking a .958 OPS. His nine home runs are part of a three-way tie for the most in the West Coast Conference. Of Patterson's 43 hits this season, 21 have gone for extra bases (11 doubles, one triple, nine homers), which also ties for the most in the conference. He has racked up 82 total bases so far in 2026, which slots in as a tie for the third-most in the WCC.

WELL DUNN
Outfielder Trey Dunn has stepped up in a big way at the dish this season. He is tied with Daniel Patterson for a team-leading five multi-RBI games and paced the squad with a 12-game on-base streak that came to an end on March 31.
