Bryson LeBlanc Joins Baseball Staff as Head Assistant Coach

MALIBU, Calif. - Bryson LeBlanc has joined the Pepperdine baseball staff as Head Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. Head Coach Tyler LaTorre made the announcement today.
LeBlanc will make the move to Malibu from Missouri, where he spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater Mizzou.
"It is a huge opportunity for our program and a blessing to add Bryson and his wonderful family to our Pepperdine Baseball Program," said LaTorre. "Bryson is one of the most well-respected recruiters and hitting coaches on the West Coast, and bringing him back to California is great for our players and community. He has a wealth of knowledge from his experience as a player and now as a coach of almost 20 years in Division I Baseball. Bryson will make a huge impact on and off the field for Waves Baseball by spearheading our recruiting efforts, leading our hitters offensively, and being an integral part of the day-to-day development of our entire program. We are incredibly lucky to have Bryson here in Malibu."

LeBlanc's most recent offenses have made defenses work. In 2025, Mizzou dropped 30 sacrifice bunts (3rd) and stole 1.22 bases per game (6th) in the SEC. The 2024 season was similar, as the Tigers laid down 23 sacrifice bunts (4th) and swiped 1.09 bases per contest (5th).
Before returning to coach at his alma mater, LeBlanc helped guide UC San Diego through its transition to the NCAA Division I level, including a 34-18 campaign that culminated in the program's first Big West Conference title. That success came on the heels of two of the most successful seasons in program history to begin his tenure. In 2019, the Tritons captured a conference title and advanced to the Division II College World Series. In 2020, the Tritons were ranked No. 1 in the country before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shay Whitcomb was selected in the fifth round of the abbreviated five-round MLB Draft.
Prior to his time in La Jolla, LeBlanc spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Big West member UC Riverside. While with the Highlanders, LeBlanc served as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach and helped 20 players get selected in the MLB Draft, including major-leaguer Mark Contreras. In 2017, the Highlanders' recruiting class was ranked in the top 35 by Baseball America and 34th in the nation by Collegiate Baseball. UCR had 30 All-Big West selections during his tenure and 38 all-academic honorees.
LeBlanc also spent four years as a member of the Oregon baseball program, serving as an assistant coach for the 2009 and 2011 seasons and as an administrative assistant for the 2008 and 2010 campaigns. In 2010, Oregon advanced to the Norwich Regional in just the second year of the program's existence. During his time with the Ducks, LeBlanc coached five players that reached the major leagues including Tyler Anderson, Kyle Garlick, Ryon Healy, Scott McGough and Jimmie Sherfy. Additionally, LeBlanc mentored 22 players selected in the MLB Draft, five All-Americans and 14 all-conference honorees.
In all, 47 of LeBlanc's former players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 15 who have been taken in the top 10 rounds. Six of those have advanced to the big leagues.
LeBlanc earned a degree from Missouri in biological sciences in 2006. He also obtained a master's degree in physical education, exercise, and sports science from Central Missouri in 2009. He and his wife Andria have two sons, Christian and Camden.
LaTorre's staff is now set for the 2027 campaign, which includes LeBlanc, Rick Hubbard (Pitching Coach, 2nd season), Dane Stankiewicz (Assistant Coach/Infield, 3rd season), and Brady Renck (Director of Baseball Operations, 2nd season).

While 2026 was a challenging season for the Tigers, LeBlanc guided the Mizzou offense to some bright spots. The Tigers struck out the least among all 16 SEC teams and stole bases at a 73.4 percent clip (58-for-79). Mizzou also found the gaps, ranking third in the SEC with a dozen triples. Mizzou was getting on-base in 37.1 percent of its at-bats, which would've ranked 4th in the WCC this most recent season. LeBlanc was also responsible for the development of shortstop Kam Durnin, who churned out a remarkable .329 average, .538 slug percentage, and .438 on-base percentage in 2026. Only a junior, Durnin was selected in the MLB Draft a couple of weekends ago, getting picked in the 4th round (121st overall) to the Houston Astros.
