LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Highlighting the Pepperdine track team's stint at UCLA, sophomore Lizzy Crawford lowered her school record in the 5,000-meter run and Kaley Peterson moved up to third-fastest all-time in the 100-meter dash over the weekend.
During Friday night's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Saturday's Jim Bush Legends Invitational, the team ran 12 new top-10 times. Pepperdine has broken a school record in all five of its outdoor meets this year.
Kicking off the weekend on Friday night's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival, Crawford's new lifetime best of 16:38.36 was nearly a 10-second improvement from her previous personal best of 16:47.22 that she ran earlier this season.
Leading the race from the get-go, Crawford stayed at the front of the pack with runners from UNLV and Division II powerhouse Azusa Pacific before saving her fastest lap for last. She wrapped up her race with a 1:15.37 closing lap and held off Natalia Ruiz Lara of UNLV in the homestretch to win the event. Crawford currently ranks ninth in the nation in the event.

Gentry, who placed second in the event, also ranks second all-time in school history and is less than four seconds behind Chris Ogle's 17-year-old school record. In the same race, junior Patrick Thomas made his debut with his time of 9:44.13, which ranks fourth in program history.
