Women’s Soccer’s Quinonez Wins Back-to-Back Weekly Awards

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Pepperdine women's soccer's (6-4-1, 3-0 WCC) Julia Quinonez earns back-to-back Offensive Player of the week Awards, the West Coast Conference announced Monday afternoon.

Beating Pacific 9-0 Saturday afternoon in Malibu, it was the largest margin of victory in a conference matchup since 2013 and the most goals the Waves have scored since 2017.

With back-to-back braces in the last two games, Quinonez became the first Wave to accomplish such a feat since 1996. Her active streak of five games with a goal is also tied for the longest in program history.

Pepperdine has won the offensive player of the week award in consecutive weeks many times before, most recently last season. However, the same Wave has not earned the same award in back-to-back weeks since Joelle Anderson in 2021.

In the WCC, the Torrance, Calif. Native leads all players in goals with eight and points with 19. With a total of 21 shots, Quinonez has an on-goal percentage of .857, a number that leads both the conference and the nation.

As a team, the Waves have scored 32 goals this season by 13 different players. This includes 18 in conference play to average 6.0 a match. Although early in WCC play, Pepperdine sits alone at the top with a 3-0 record.

Two matches are on deck for the Waves this week as they head up north to take on the projected WCC champs in Santa Clara Wednesday night before welcoming Gonzaga to Malibu Saturday. With a 7:00 kickoff, the match against the Broncos will be live streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required) with live available on pepperdinewaves.com.
