MALIBU, Calif. – The #20 Pepperdine beach volleyball team heads into the final week of the regular season, trekking down the coast to challenge PCH Cup rival #5 LMU and #13 Washington on Saturday.

WAVES WEATHER: Saturday in LA has sunny skies with a few clouds in the forecast, with a high of 82 degrees. Winds will blow at roughly five to 10 miles per hour throughout the day.

LAST WEEK IN SLO: Pepperdine went 1-3 last week at the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo, Calif. On opening day, the Waves faced off with #3 UCLA, falling 5-0 before then going head-to-head against tournament host Cal Poly and winning 3-2. The following day, Pepperdine fell to top-ranked TCU and #6 LMU.Â

Pepperdine's No. 1 and No. 5 pairs each won twice. In the win over the Mustangs,
Gracey Campbell and
Gabriella Perez won first in a two-set match in the No. 4 position. After CP took courts two and three to pull ahead, the Waves had to buckle down.Â
Kate Clermont and
McKenna Thomas won in three in the No. 1 position to tie things up once more.Â
Madison Oriskovich and
Kristine Briede then clinched the dual victory with a three-set win from the No. 5 position.

WAVE REPORT: Pepperdine has gone 16-10 overall, with a 7-2 record at home, 1-3 record on the road and an 8-5 record on neutral courts. There have been two pairs in the No. 1 position this season, though
Kate Clermont and
McKenna Thomas have played together most recently and posted a 7-2 record. Thomas and
Alexus McLeod have also gone 10-7 in the position. In the No. 2 slot, Clermont and
Savannah Standage had posted a 14-3 overall record, while Standage and Mcleod have gone 2-4 since joining forces.

Freshman pair
Gracey Campbell and
Gabriella Perez have gone 17-9 in the No. 4 position, while
Kristine Briede and
Madison Oriskovich have posted a 16-7 record in the No. 5 position. There have been several pairs in the No. 3 slot, with
Gracie Pedersen and
Jasmin Suarez posting a 5-9 record and
Juju Quintero and
Aubrey Roberts going 2-5 in the position.

OPPONENTS: All-time, the Waves and Lions have gone an even 11-11. Pepperdine won the first 11-straight from 2012 to 2019, before the opposition won their first-ever match in 2019. LMU has been on an 11-match winning streak since then. LMU has gone 23-6 overall this season and has remained perfect, 6-0, at home this season. Last week, the Lions fell to #2 USC and #4 Florida State, while defeating both #11 Long Beach State and Pepperdine by tough 3-2 margins.Â

This will be the first meeting between Pepperdine and Washington all-time. This season, UW has posted a 19-12 overall record, while going 13-8 on neutral sand. Last weekend, the Huskies went undefeated with a pair of wins against Portland and Boise State and a sweep over Oregon.Â
