MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's soccer team earned a 1-1 West Coast Conference tie against San Francisco on Saturday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
The Waves (1-1-2 WCC, 7-2-4) fell behind early in the first half to the Dons (0-3-1 WCC, 5-5-4), but
Tatum Wynalda scored the equalizer more than 10 minutes later. Pepperdine dominated the field and was unlucky to not come away with the three points after outshooting San Francisco 21-5, with 10 shots placed on goal.
GOALS
San Francisco 8': Kaylin Lunsford of San Francisco sent a pass backward to the Dons' Jamesen Ward, who sailed a perfectly placed shot from about 25 yards out right underneath the crossbar into the back of the net.
Pepperdine 20': As the ball approached the right endline, junior forward
Tori Waldeck (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) stopped the ball with her left foot from going out of bounds. Waldeck tapped the ball to the top of the keeper's box and freshman forward
Tatum Wynalda (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) sent a right-footed shot towards a Dons' defender who was in net, but it crossed the goal line to equalize the game. This was Wynalda's sixth goal of the season, which is also a team-high.
