#8 Pepperdine Travels to Play #15 Long Beach State, UC Davis

MALIBU, Calif. – The #8 Pepperdine beach volleyball team will hit the road for three duals this week, first heading down South to take on #15 Long Beach State in a solo match before trekking to UC Davis for a doubleheader against the Aggies on Friday.

LOOKING AHEAD: Next week, the Waves head up to Palo Alto, Calif. to compete in a tournament hosted by Stanford on April 17 and 18. Team in attendance will include Stanford and Cal, as well as West Coast Conference opponent Saint Mary's.Â
WAVES WEATHER: The weather in Long Beach on Wednesday calls for a high of 74˚ with sunshine and clouds mixed. Winds will shift from the South to the Southwest, reaching 10 to 20 miles per hour. On Friday in Davis, skies will be sunny with a high of 76˚ and winds running Southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation on both days is below seven percent.

WAVE REPORT: Pepperdine currently has a 7-12 overall record after having gone 3-1 last weekend in Arizona. The Waves have marked a 42-53 overall pairs record this season and have tabbed winning records in the No. 2 and 3 positions so far.

The top three spots have been held by a few rotating pairs. Simone Priebe and Melanie Paul have tabbed the most wins as a duo with a 12-7 overall record, including a 1-4 record in the No. 1 position, an 8-2 record in the No. 2 position and a 3-1 record in the No. 3 slot.Â

Brook Bauer and Carly Skjodt have posted a 7-8 overall record with a 4-7 record in the top slot and a 3-1 output in the No. 2 position. Alexis Filippone and Sutton Mactavish have gone 5-10 overall this season, collecting a 1-3 output from the No. 2 position and a 4-7 record in the No. 3 spot. Last weekend, Bauer and Filippone teamed up as a pairing in Arizona and went undefeated with a 4-0 record, posting three wins in the No. 1 position and one win in the No. 2 position.

In the No. 4 slot, multiple pairs have played there, with Jordan Benoit and Mary Sinclair and Calista Wright and Katie Gavin each having collected two wins. Two other partnerships won one match a piece in that position. Additionally, Gavin and Michaela Kasper had been most successful in the No. 5 slot with a 2-0 record, while three other pairing have won at least one match.

Last weekend: Beach made the trip to Hawai'i last weekend to take on the #16 Rainbow Warriors three times. All three matches finished with 3-2 results, with LBSU taking one win and two losses. In the week prior, Beach and Hawai'i faced as well, with LBSU taking a 3-2 win. Beach also defeated UC Davis 5-0 that week, while dropping CSUN 5-0 and CSU Bakersfield 4-1 and falling to #5 Cal Poly 4-1.
