MATCH #5 — Saturday (March 6) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, California: Pepperdine (2-2-0, 1-0-0) vs. San Francisco (1-1-1, 0-1-0) at 12 p.m.

HOME ATTENDANCE — Per the current COVID-19 guidelines set by the state of California and Los Angeles County, spectators will not be permitted to attend home matches at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 15-10-2 all-time against San Francisco, with a 9-2-2 record in Malibu. The Waves are unbeaten in the last four meetings (3-0-1) and won 3-2 at USF in 2019. All five goals were scored in a 16-minute span in the first half. Joelle Anderson scored twice and Trinity Watson had the Waves' third goal. Pepperdine is also unbeaten in the last seven home games (5-0-2) against USF.
LAST WEEK — Zoe Clevely saved a penalty kick in the 58th minute and Tori Waldeck scored about two minutes later as the Waves opened up WCC play with a 1-0 win at Saint Mary's last Saturday. Leyla McFarland assisted on Waldeck's second goal of the season. Pepperdine outshot SMC 12-8 and got its first shutout of the season.
AWARDS — Zoe Clevely was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week on March 2 after the shutout win at Saint Mary's, which included a save on a penalty kick ... Trinity Watson was named to Top Drawer Soccer's national team of the week on Feb. 16 after she scored the game's first goal against USD ... Emily Sample was named to Top Drawer Soccer's national team of the week on March 2 after the shutout win at Saint Mary's.
NOTABLE — Pepperdine has outshot the opponent in all four games ... Pepperdine's two losses this season have come to teams ranked #3 and #4 in the country at the time (though the Waves outshot them too) ... Sixteen players have started a game this season and six (Madi Cook, Carlee Giammona, Emily Sample, Alex Sampson, Tori Waldeck, Trinity Watson) have started every match.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #49 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
