MALIBU, Calif. — Senior
Rachel Ahrens of the Pepperdine women's volleyball team, earned AVCA All-American honorable mention acclaim, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Wednesday morning.

Ahrens (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) had a strong season for the program, breaking multiple Pepperdine women's volleyball records and ranking top-10 nationally in at least seven categories throughout the season. She tabbed AVCA Pacific South All-Region first team honors earlier this season and in 2020, she garnered AVCA All-American honorable mention honors, along with AVCA Pacific South All-Region first team acclaim.

13 Waves have garnered 21 All-American selections since 1977. Four athletes from the West Coast Conference, including Ahrens, received the honor with BYU also adding one third team selection and two other honorable mention nods.

This season, Ahrens had tabbed three WCC offensive weekly honors, along with Pepperdine's first-ever AVCA National Player of the Week accolade. She earned her second-consecutive All-WCC first team nod this season as well.

Ahrens tallied 513 total kills on a .279 success rate throughout the season, averaging 4.89 kills for the Waves. She became the 21
st Wave to pick up her 1,000
th career kill earlier this season on September 10 and has since totaled 1,387 career kills. She also amassed 51 aces, breaking her own Pepperdine women's volleyball record for most aces in a single season during the rally scoring era. She currently ranks 12
th nationally with 0.49 aces/set and had led the WCC in seven categories. Ahrens also amassed 1.90 digs and 0.49 blocks per set for the squad this season as well.Â
