SENIOR DAY — Because Saturday is the final weekend home game, the Waves have opted to host their Senior Day then. Fans should arrive early to catch the pregame ceremony. The Waves who will be recognized are Joelle Anderson, Zoe Clevely, Kailee Gifford, Devyn Gilfoy, Kelsey Hill, Leyla McFarland, Olivia Packer, Calista Reyes and Trinity Watson. Some of the players on this list are eligible to utilize a COVID-19 redshirt year and may return for 2022.

OPPONENTS — Pepperdine is 11-16-0 all-time against Santa Clara. Between 2000 and 2016 the home team won every meeting. Pepperdine broke that streak with a victory at Santa Clara in 2017 (part of a three-match winning streak in the series and the Waves' first-ever win at SCU). The Broncos have won by the score of 4-3 in each of the last two seasons, including their first win in Malibu since 1999 this past spring ... Pepperdine is 14-8-5 all-time against Saint Mary's. Pepperdine has won two in a row but the Gaels have been a problem in recent years, with the Waves posting a 1-2-2 record between 2014-18. Pepperdine is 8-3-3 at home against SMC.

LAST WEEK — Pepperdine's successful run continued with a 3-0 home win over Gonzaga on Saturday. Tabitha LaParl and Kelsey Hill both scored in the first half and Tori Waldeck added a third goal in the second half. The Waves outshot the Bulldogs 20-6.

NOTABLES — The Waves have won a school-record 11 in a row (the previous best was nine consecutive in 2017) ... Pepperdine's 13-1-0 record is the best in program history after 14 games ... The Waves have set a school record with seven consecutive shutouts and haven't allowed a goal in the last 694 minutes of play ... The Waves have scored at least three goals in four consecutive games (that hasn't happened since 2002, when they had five such games in a row) ... The Waves won their first seven road games to start a season for the first time in program history (and are now 9-0 on the road) ... Pepperdine's win at #5 TCU was the program's third-ever against a top-five team on the road (following #3 Portland in 2002 and #4 Stanford in 2004) ... Continuing a trend that began in the spring, the Waves have outshot all 14 opponents this season ... Carlee Giammona tied a school record with three assists against Vanderbilt.

NATIONAL STATS — Pepperdine leads the nation in goals-against average (0.36, is second in save percentage (.889) and is 14th in goals per game (2.71) ... Individually, Zoe Clevely ranks tied for first in shutouts (nine), third in goals-against average (0.39) and sixth in save percentage (.881).

WCC STATS — The Waves rank first in goals against average (0.36) and third in goals per game (2.71) ... Joelle Anderson is eighth in goals per game (0.43), ninth in points per game (1.21) and tied for ninth in assists per game (0.36) ... Tori Waldeck is fourth in points per game (1.46), tied for fifth in goals per game (0.54) and tied for seventh in assists per game (0.38) ... Carlee Giammona is tied for ninth in assists per game (0.36) and 10th in points per game (1.07) ... Zoe Clevely is first in shutouts (nine), first in goals against average (0.36), first in save percentage (.881) and eighth in saves per game (2.64).

RANKINGS — The Waves had a few big swings in the first few United Soccer Coaches polls, going from receiving votes in the preseason, all the way up to #8 after the first week, then to #23. They've moved up since then, going from #13 to #9 to #6 to #4 to #3 (best since 2011).

HONORS — Joelle Anderson has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list for the second straight season, and she's also one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS award.

The Waves have had two National Players of the Week courtesy of Top Drawer Soccer in Anderson (Sept. 7) and Tori Waldeck (Sept. 21) ... Anderson also received the WCC Offensive Player of the Week award (Sept. 6) after scoring a golden goal at Lipscomb and recording a goal and assist at Vanderbilt ... Anderson received her second WCC Offensive Player of the Week award in a row on September 13 after a goal against UCSD and a goal and an assist against UCSB ... Waldeck also earned the WCC Offensive Player of the Week award (Sept. 20) after scoring the game-winning goal at #5 TCU and assisting on the winner at Texas A&M.

Pepperdine has had a league-best six Player of the Week awards this season. In addition to Anderson (twice) and Waldeck, the Waves have had three Defensive Player of the Week winners. Zoe Clevely now has claimed the award four times in her career after winning it on August 23 after the season-opening shutouts against #14 USC and SDSU, and again on October 11 after shutouts against San Diego and Loyola Marymount. Kelsey Hill got it on October 18 after scoring a goal and contributing to the shutout win against Gonzaga.

Trinity Watson has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week twice. The first one came on August 24 after the two opening shutouts and scoring a goal on a penalty kick. The second was on September 14 after she had two assists against UCSD and a goal against UCSB. Carlee Giammona received it on October 5 after notching a goal and an assist against Portland.

ANDERSON — Back in January, Joelle Anderson was picked in the third round of the 2021 NWSL Draft by the Houston Dash. But she decided to stick around Malibu for a little while longer before she joins the pros. The four-time All-WCC pick (twice on the first team) and three-time All-West Region honoree is utilizing a COVID-19 redshirt year to play a fifth season at Pepperdine. All-time at Pepperdine, she ranks tied for third in game-winning goals (13), fourth in goals (30), fourth in points (81) and tied for fifth in assists (21). Anderson scored a goal in four consecutive games this season, one shy of the school record. She's one of only three players in program history with at least 30 goals and 20 assists.

REYES — She has had the benefit of an extra season, but Calista Reyes has equaled the Pepperdine record for all-time games played. Reyes and Bri Visalli (2014-17) have both played in 83 games.

CLEVELY — Goalkeeper Zoe Clevely is also leaving her mark on the Waves' record book. On the career charts, she's second in goals-against average (0.64), tied for fifth in solo shutouts (15) and seventh in wins (20)

ABOUT PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and 10 overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 26 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #49 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
