#7 Waves Crush PCH Rival Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The #7 Pepperdine women's tennis team blanked West Coast Conference and PCH Cup Rival Loyola Marymount 4-0 in a Saturday morning matchup in Los Angeles.
 
The match was the Waves' first conference opposition, as they now stand 1-0 in WCC play. Pepperdine will take on Pacific next weekend in conference play.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In doubles play, the Waves controlled courts two and three as tandem Adrijana Lekaj & Dzina Milovanovic finished first by way of a 6-3 score. The 16th-ranked pair of Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine fought but ultimately fell to their LMU opponents 5-6, leaving all eyes on court two. Though it took an extra rally, partners Ashley Lahey and Daria Kuczer eventually went on to win the doubles point for the Waves by a score of 7-6. 
 
Singles play was left up to the decision of three courts, as courts one, three and five went unfinished post-clinch. Iamachinke finished first to give the Waves a 2-0 lead on the match, beating her opponent 6-1 and 6-3. Lekaj followed suit on court two, dominating her LMU opponent in the same fashion and same scores. On court four,
 
Milovanovic defeated a rallying opposition by way of scores 6-1 and 6-4 to clinch the match for Pepperdine, as courts one, three and five were abandoned, leaving the final score 4-0 in the Waves favor.
 
NEXT UP
Next, the Waves make the trip up north to take on Pacific and Saint Mary's on March 29 and 30 in Stockton and Moraga respectively.
