WAVEPOINTS
• After playing seven of the season's first nine games away from home, the Pepperdine men's basketball team is back in Malibu for its next four games, including Friday night's contest against Idaho State.
• After going nearly 40 years between meetings, the Waves and Bengals are playing in Malibu for the second straight season.
• Pepperdine's all-time assist record could fall as early as Friday night. Colbey Ross now has 484 and he's just 10 behind Jeremy Major's total of 494. Ross has more career assists than any junior in the country.Â
• Ross is averaging a WCC-best 7.3 assists per game (seventh nationally) and is second in scoring (20.1). In the Waves' three games against Pac-12 schools he averaged 25.7 points, and in four games against Power 5 teams he averaged 26.5 points.
• Ross also leads the WCC in free throw percentage (92.0%) and minutes played (36.3) and he's tied for first in three-pointers per game (2.8)
• The Waves currently have three players sidelined in Kameron Edwards (nose), Keith Smith (knee) and Andre Ball (knee). Edwards and Smith should return in the coming weeks.
• Between Ross, Kameron Edwards (17.3, third) and Kessler Edwards (15.0, tied for eighth), the Waves have three of the top 10 scorers in the WCC. The trio has combined to score 64.5% of the Waves' points this season.
• Kessler Edwards is third in the WCC in rebounding (7.7), fourth in free throw percentage (85.0%) and fifth in three-point percentage (51.4%).
• The Waves hit 80% or better of their free throws in each of the first eight games of the season. After a small blip the last time out, they're now second nationally at 84.7%. Ross has made 46 free throws, ninth nationally.
• After final exams, Pepperdine's next home game is a week from Saturday (Dec. 14) against Central Arkansas.
WAVECASTS — Friday's game can be viewed online via WaveCasts on the WCC Network. Veteran play-by-play man Al Epstein, a 2015 Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be behind the microphone (now in his 35th season, this will be his 1,047th consecutive broadcast for the Waves).
TICKETS — Single-game tickets for most Pepperdine home games are $25 for reserved seating, $15 for adult general admission and $12 for alumni or child general admission. Select premium games are $30, $20 and $15, respectively. Tickets are available via PepperdineWaves.com or by calling (310) 506-4764.
PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #50 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
