WAVEPOINTS
• The Pepperdine men's basketball team has won three consecutive games, including two on the road, but the Waves will face their biggest test yet at USC on Tuesday night.
• Pepperdine is trying for its first four-game win streak since January 2016, and looking to win a third consecutive road game for the first time since January 2015.
• The Waves have already equaled last year's season total of two road wins.
• Pepperdine has already beaten two 2019 NCAA Tournament teams (UC Irvine and Abilene Christian).
• Colbey Ross continues his march toward the program's all-time assist record. He's gone from #5 to #2 on the list already this season and now has 451. All that's left to pass is Jeremy Major's total of 494.
• Ross, who is averaging 17.0 points and 8.3 assists (ranking fifth nationally), is on the Lou Henson Award preseason watch list (for the nation's top mid-major player).
• Ross has made his first 21 free throw attempts of the season. He's made 30 straight dating back to last season. The school record is Stacy Davis' 34 in 2015-16.
• Kessler Edwards, who took part in a USA Basketball U19 national team camp this summer and joined Ross on the preseason All-WCC team, is averaging team bests of 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds.
• Kameron Edwards has scored 21, 22 and 20 points in the last three games.
• Last year's Waves won 10 more games than the year before — one of just four times in school history Pepperdine has improved by double-digits in the win column. Lorenzo Romar has been the head coach for two of them.
• The Waves are currently in a stretch of three consecutive road games (and six of seven away from home). Their one home game in this stretch is Saturday (Nov. 23) vs. Sacramento State.
WAVECASTS — Saturday's game can be heard online via WaveCasts at PepperdineWaves.com. Veteran play-by-play man Al Epstein, a 2015 Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be behind the microphone (now in his 35th season, this will be his 1,042nd consecutive broadcast for the Waves).
WATCH — The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #50 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
