Soccer Has PCH Cup Game at LMU on Sunday

MALIBU, California — The Pepperdine women's soccer team seeks to bounce back but faces another tough road matchup this weekend at PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount.
The Waves are receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll.
MATCH #13 — Sunday (October 13) at Sullivan Field in Los Angeles, Calif.: Pepperdine (5-5-2, 1-1-0) at Loyola Marymount (3-7-2, 2-0-0) at 1 p.m.

OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 14-8-5 all-time against LMU. Calista Reyes has scored all three of the Waves' goals in the last two years, a 1-0 road victory in 2017 and a 2-1 home win in 2018. The Waves have a 6-4-4 record in games at LMU and have won there in three of their last four visits. The Lions were winless in their first nine games of the season but are now on a three-game winning streak, including victories over Pacific and San Francisco to start WCC play. LMU has scored 15 goals and allowed 22.
PCH CUP — An annual all-sport competition between two local rivals that are separated by just 19.1 miles of scenic coastline, the PCH Cup is in its 11th season of existence. Pepperdine has won eight of the 10 years that this competition has been held. A home win is worth one point, a road victory is worth 1.5 points.
LAST GAME — The Waves couldn't put a dent in one of the nation's two remaining unbeaten teams, as #6 BYU earned a 5-1 win in Provo on Wednesday night. The Cougars scored three times in the first 22 minutes before Shelby Little got one back just before halftime. BYU scored twice more early in the second half. Despite the score, the stats were relatively even with the Cougars holding a 17-15 edge in shots.
NOTABLE — The win over Portland was the 250th in Tim Ward's career ... Hailey Stenberg and Shelby Little are tied with for the team high with three goals apiece while Leyla McFarland and Brie Welch have both scored twice ... McFarland leads with four assists (tied for fifth in the WCC) and eight points ... Kinsey Ehmann is first in the WCC in shutouts per game (0.33), first in saves per game (4.11) and seventh in goals-against average (1.42) ... The Waves' defense is tied for third in the WCC in shutouts (five) and fifth in goals-against average (1.29). At the other end of the field, they're sixth in scoring at 1.33 goals per game ... Pepperdine played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. The combined win-loss record of their non-conference opponents in 2018 was 120-62-20 (.643), and five of them won matches in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Five of the 10 opponents were nationally ranked at the time of the game, and another was receiving votes.
TICKETS — Single-game tickets at Tari Frahm Rokus Field cost $10 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12, seniors 65+ and alumni/Crest members. Students, faculty and staff are free with an ID. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.
