Nov. 27, 2017 WCC RELEASE
MALIBU, Calif. — Three Waves earned West Coast Conference postseason recognition for the Pepperdine women's volleyball team, as announced on Monday afternoon. The honors were highlighted by a second-consecutive All-WCC first team nod for sophomore Jasmine Gross, while Hannah Frohling garnered honorable mention status and Alli O'Harra earned a spot on the All-WCC Freshman Team.
Gross earned All-WCC first team honors after breaking three Pepperdine women's volleyball records, including the all-time record for most blocks in a single season which ended at 179 this season and ranked 4th nationally throughout the NCAA. The previous record stood at 158 since the 1991 and 1992 seasons. The middle blocker also broke the rally scoring single-season block record, the all-time and rally scoring blocks/set records and the all-time record for highest hitting percentage in a single match.
This season, Gross averaged 1.52 blocks/set, 2.98 kills/set on a .346 hitting percentage, 0.13 aces/set and 0.96 digs/set. She posted three double-doubles, 21 matches with double-figure kills and five matches with double-figure blocks. In 31 matches played, she led the Waves in blocks 21 times, hitting percentage 17 times, kills eight times and aces three times. She was also the WCC Player of the Week on September 18.
Frohling earned her All-WCC honorable mention nod after leading the Waves with 3.69 kills/set on a .203 output. She also led the squad with 35 aces, averaging 0.30 aces/set. She marked 2.52 digs/set and 0.44 blocks/set in the all-around effort as well. Frohling led the team in kills on 16 occasions, aces 10 times, hitting percentage five times and digs once. This season, the sophomore outside hitter tabbed 14 double-doubles in kills and digs, double figure kills 25 times and double-figure digs 16 times. She put up 20-plus kills once this season as well.
O'Harra had a solid freshman campaign in the middle for the Waves to earn herself a spot on the All-WCC Freshman squad. She tallied 1.56 kills/set on a .247 success rate, while adding 0.97 blocks/set. She posted double-figure kills twice this season and led the team in blocks in 10 matches and hitting percentage in two matches.
