Malibu, Calif. - Pepperdine senior forward Megan Woods was once again awarded for her stellar 2005 season as she was named to the All-Regional (West) Soccer Buzz first team, while senior goalkeeper Anna Picarelli was also honored as she garnered second team accolades, it was announced Tuesday, December 20.
Woods, a resident of Carlsbad, Calif., totaled 34 points with 12 goals and 10 assists and concluded her Pepperdine career ranked second on the school's all-time lists in points (85) and goals (31) while tying for second in assists with 23. Woods ranked among the Top 10 in the West Coast Conference (WCC) in points, goals and assists.
Last week, Woods was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Adidas All-American third team.
Picarelli, a resident of Downey, Calif., totaled eight shutouts this season and concluded her Pepperdine career ranked first on the school's all-time lists in shutouts (32.5) and saves (319). In the Waves' season finale against North Carolina, Picarelli registered a career-high 14 saves.
Both seniors helped lead the Waves to their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, where they advanced to the "Sweet 16" for the second time in school history. The Waves finished the year ranked No. 16 by Soccer Buzz and No. 18 in the final NSCAA poll.
