RV Women's Soccer Scoreless Against Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – Pepperdine women's soccer (2-3-1), who received votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll, lost to Arizona State (5-0-2) Thursday night 0-1 at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

"We came on the road against a really good team," Head coach Tim Ward said. "They're undefeated for a reason, but I thought we played really well. The result aside, I'm really proud of the performance."

A penalty kick in the 28th minute was the difference in the match as the Sun Devils converted with a stopped clock after a foul was given up in the box by the Waves.

Despite the score, Pepperdine outshot ASU 18-6, including six on goal compared to the home team's four. Holding possession for 51 percent of the time, the Waves had six corners tonight, compared to the Sun Devils' seven.

Tatum Wynalda led the offense with five shots, four of them being on target. Six different Waves played the entire 90 minutes, including goalkeeper Jillian Medvecky who had three saves on the night.

Next up, Pepperdine heads down to Tucson to take on the Wildcats of the University of Arizona. Due to heat, kickoff was moved to 10:30 a.m. with the live stream available on ESPN+ (subscription required). Live stats will be available on pepperdinewaves.com
