Anna Picarelli Named WCC Player of the Week

Nov. 7, 2005

Malibu, Calif. - Senior goalkeeper Anna Picarelli, who led Pepperdine to a 1-0 shutout over then-No. 6 Santa Clara on Saturday, was named the West Coast Conference's (WCC) "Player of the Week," the conference announced on Monday.

Picarelli registered a season-high 12 saves in the last regular-season match and secured the victory for the Waves as the Broncos attempted to equalize the score in the last minute of the game.

The Waves' senior finished the season with six shutouts, which moved her into fourth place on the school's single-season record, 96 saves, and .85 goals against average. Picarelli now totals 30.5 shutouts in her career.

It marked the second time in her career that Picarelli has received WCC "Player of the Week" honors. She previously earned the honor as a freshman in 2002.
