4/20/2026 4:38:00 PM | Men's Volleyball
MALIBU, Calif. – No. 4 Pepperdine men's volleyball team (22-5, 13-1 MPSF) swept the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation awards for the second time this season as the Waves head into postseason play.
Ryan Barnett earned MPSF's Offensive Player of the Week while James Eadie earned Defensive Player of the Week. The last time Pepperdine swept the conference awards was March 20 when the same duo took home identical awards.
The Waves swept the No. 6 USC Trojans twice this week, once on the road and once at home in the largest crowd Firestone Fieldhouse has seen in the modern era.
On the offensive side of the ball, Barnett combined for a .488 hitting percentage across two matches, including a monster .611 with just one error Saturday night. The New York native also notches a service ace as well as four block assists to take home his second weekly recognition of the season. Last time Barnett earned MPSF player of the week, he also earned AVCA National Player of the Week, announced every Tuesday throughout the regular season.
Eadie took care of business on the defensive side of the ball, notching a team-high nine blocks this week. The senior also hit .714 on 11 kills, his best offensive-performance across a two-match span this season. On the season, Eadie leads the team with 96.0 total blocks to average over 1.0 per set.
With the two wins, Pepperdine split the MPSF regular season title with No. 1 UCLA, earning the No. 2 seed in the MPSF tournament via a coaches vote. The postseason starts for the Waves this Wednesday when they travel to Provo, Utah to take on the Jessup Warriors for a spot in the semifinals. The entire tournament is hosted at the Smith Fieldhouse by BYU.
Wednesday's match has a first serve time of 10 a.m. pst. The match will be available on B1G+ and live stats available at www.pepperdinewaves.com
