AZUSA, Calif. – Pepperdine track wrapped up the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and Leopard Invitational in La Verne yesterday evening. The Waves had runners split between the Azusa Pacific and University of La Verne meets over the past few days.
"The competition this weekend was electric at both meets," head coach Lauren Floris said. "I'm so proud of how our athletes raced. We're walking away from this weekend with lots of new personal bests and three incredible school record runs!"Â
Like she has done all year, Lizzy Crawford set another record. She ran a time of 16:25.13 in the 5K, besting the mark she had run last year at UCLA by over 13 seconds (previously 16:38.36).
Parker Buchheit's mark in the 800m did not last long. The Georgia Tech transfer took down his own record-setting time by 19 milliseconds. He clocked a speed of 1:49.13 this week. The graduate transfer then enjoyed a commencement ceremony from the Graziadio Business School the following day.
Isabella Reyes, Annie Trapp, Lia Cooper, and Lexi Thomas continued their relay success. The four raced past the old time they collectively set last week in Pomona, 3:48.34 versus 3:50.69.Â
