LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 8 Pepperdine men's golf team finished round two of the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate at the Southern Highlands Golf Club in the Sin City. The Waves had a setback on Monday but stand in a tie for ninth-place heading into Tuesday's final round action.
Â
Mahanth Chirravuri started well, tallying three birdies on the first six green. Holes seven and eight served as a challenge, where he recorded bogeys before rattling off a birdie on 16 and 18, putting him in 13th place overall at the end of the day. Chirravuri has done well overall in the tournament, scoring two under par heading into the final round.
Â
Willy Walsh dropped a few spots to 22nd overall but had a productive outing on the back nine after a tough front nine. He hit par on holes 10 through 17 before capping his day with a birdie on 18. After Monday's round, he sits at an even score in the tournament.
Â
Luke Dariotis began round two with a par on one and two before he birdied on hole three. Â
Byungho Lee also had a strong start, scoring par or better on eight of the first nine. He birdied on three but bogeyed four of the back nine, which brought him back to four over par for round two. Lee has shot a 150 (+6) going into the final round.
Â
Brady Siravo rounded out the lineup for the Waves, although it was a tough day for the Sacramento native. The senior tripled started on hole one and double-bogeyed on two, eventually ending the second round five over par and seven over par for the tournament.
