RODRIGUEZ REJOINS WAVES
Pepperdine Athletics Hall of Famer
Steve Rodriguez was named the Special Assistant to the Head Coach on Tuesday, as
announced by Head Coach Tyler LaTorre. A Wave through and through, Rodriguez was a member of the Pepperdine baseball 1992 National Championship team and later served as head coach of the Waves from 2004-15. Rodriguez's first stint back in Malibu began in 2000, where he served as an assistant coach for four seasons before being named head coach prior to the 2004 campaign. During his tenure as head coach, the Waves reached eight NCAA Tournaments including five straight from 2004-08 along with a Super Regional appearance in 2014. Rodriguez compiled a 401-300 record in 12 years at the helm of the program, winning five WCC regular-season titles and five WCC Tournament titles.

The complete coaching staff for 2026 is as follows:
DAN IS THE MAN
Graduate infielder
Daniel Patterson blasted his team-leading third home run of the season on Tuesday 3/3 at Cal Poly and currently is second on the team with a .262 batting average. He has scored 11 runs, racked up a team-high 62 at-bats, 8 RBI, and .492 slugging percentage. He popped 13 home runs in 2025 after crushing a career-best 18 in 2024.
LET HIM COOK
Sophomore
Danny Cook crushed two home runs last Friday against Michigan, marking a new season-high and his first multi-home run game of his career.
WHATEVER IT TAKES
Two of Pepperdine's three wins this season have both come in walk-off fashion at home. On Saturday 2/28 versus Yale,
Daniel Patterson walked off the Bulldogs in the 10th inning of a 4-3 win. This past Friday, the Waves walked-off Michigan in the bottom of the ninth on a
Danny Cook solo home run.
THE GREAT GABE
Graduate pitcher
Gabe Maya has been solid out of the bullpen for the Waves. In 4.0 innings of work, he has surrendered just six hits, four runs (none of them earned), and hasn't walked a batter.
A DIFFERENT JAMES IN LA
Freshman first baseman/outfielder
James Dell'Amico, a Los Angeles, California native, is hitting .262 (tied for the second-highest on the team) in 42 at-bats, cracking 11 hits (all singles) while scoring five runs and driving in six more.
KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY
Dell'Amico's father, Keven, was part of Pepperdine's 1992 National Championship baseball squad, the only Waves team to win it all in program history. James' uncle, Steven, also played for Pepperdine and is among the former Waves that have gone pro, having been drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies. James' sister Megan is also a Pepperdine graduate.
EUPER EXCITING
Casey Euper has also been tremendous on the hill for the Waves, boasting a 0.64 ERA, only trailing Maya, to pair with a 0.86 WHIP across 14.0 innings of work (four appearances, one start). He gave up just one earned run in his first collegiate start on Sunday 3/1 versus Yale.
WALK THIS WAY
Redshirt sophomore
Finley Buckner has shown his patience at the dish so far in 2026, leading the team with eight walks. He sports a strong .396 on-base percentage in addition to being hit by a pitch three times.
