LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 8 Pepperdine men's golf team completed round one of the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate at the Southern Highlands Golf Club in the Sin City. The Waves sit at an even par team score following Sunday's action.
Willy Walsh paced the Waves by scoring two under par (70). He had a good start, posting a birdie on hole three. Walsh was consistent all day, hitting par or better on each hole except seven where he bogeyed. He finished strong on the back nine, firing a birdie on 13 and 17 to complete the day in 14th place overall.
Mahanth Chirravuri recovered from a tough start to record four birdies on four of the last six holes, propelling him to finish one-under on the day (71). He sits in 20th place overall.
Luke Dariotis tallied a one-over par after nailing a birdie on holes four and 14. Despite a bogey on 17 and 18, he sits in 32nd place overall out of 84.
Byungho Lee had a hot start to the day, hitting form with a birdie on three and nine, finishing the first nine two under par. The back nine was a challenge but despite recording a few bogeys, he finished two over for the day.
Brady Siravo rounded out the lineup with a two-over-par performance, recording a birdie on hole three. He tallied a par on all but two holes on the back nine, with the difference being a triple bogey on 10.
On the individual side,
Oscar Bach had a challenging day but posted a birdie on five, carding an eight-over 72.
Pepperdine was one of seven teams out of 15 to hit par or better on day one, tying with Texas A&M for an even score. Complete Pepperdine and team results are below.
