No. 15 Men's Golf in First Place Following Round One of the Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — No. 15 Pepperdine men's golf wrapped up day one at the Southwestern Invitational with a five-stroke lead at seven under par from North Ranch Country Club.

All five Waves shot even or under par to open the spring season, highlighted by freshman Luke Dariotis shooting a 3-under 67. Dariotis currently sits in second-place individually, with Brady Siravo (-2) in fifth plus Willy Walsh (-1) and Byungho Lee (-1) also in the top-ten.

"The guys played nicely today from top to bottom," said head coach Michael Beard. "The first day is done so it's time for our guys to plan and be ready for round two. The weather seems to be great tomorrow so there will be an opportunity to have solid round. We need to come out ready to play and ready to execute. We're looking forward to the challenge."

Dariotis rebounded after recording two bogeys within the first three holes, firing five birdies throughout the remainder of the round, with a 4-under 32 on the back nine to propel himself into second-place individually. The 3-under 67 marked the lowest round of his collegiate career.

Siravo posted a 2-under 68 for the Waves, starting his round in form with three birdies on the first four holes. After falling back to even par on the back nine, Siravo logged back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to finish day one within the top-five individually.

Walsh battled through the front nine at three over par, before solidifying his round on the back. He went on to birdie holes 11 and 12, before recording an eagle on the par-5 15th, one of seven eagles on the hole on the day. Walsh sits in ninth with his 1-under 69.

Lee also tabbed a 69 to open his spring campaign, and like Walsh, saw himself at three over on the front nine. Recovering with back-to-back birdies on six and seven, Lee went on to birdie three of the final four holes to finish one under par and bring the Waves' team score to seven under.

Mahanth Chirravuri rounded out the lineup for the Waves, shooting an even par 70 in a round which saw him record three birdies and three bogeys.

On the individual side, Carson Kim also shot an even par-70 to match Chirravuri in a tie for 15th on the individual leaderboard. Luke Bailey carded a 2-over 72, with Joshua Koo (+5) and Oscar Bach (+6) also kicking off their spring seasons.

UNLV was the only other team to come in under par in the team scoring at two under. The Rebels' Trevor Lewis paced the field with a 5-under 65.
