FAIRFIELD, Calif. –
Mahanth Chirravuri won the first tournament of his Pepperdine career on Saturday as he became the 15th Wave all-time and fifth in the last seven seasons to win the WCC Championship Individual Title.
After both shooting a 15-under 201, Chirravuri and
Kris Kuvaas went head-to-head in a playoff for the individual championship. Chirravuri ultimately claimed the crown with an eagle on the 451-yard par-5 first hole and earned the Waves second consecutive individual title at the WCC Championship, with
Brady Siravo winning the tournament last year.
As a team, Pepperdine amassed a score of 818 (277-269-272) (-46) and earned the top-seed in match play, which begins tomorrow. The Waves will take on the Pacific Tigers in the semifinal match at 7:30 a.m., and Pepperdine will look to win their 23rd WCC Title in program history, and their first since 2022.
PLAYER SCORES
- Junior Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz.) finished tied for 1st at 15-under with a three-round total of 201 (67-66-68). Chirravuri posted a 4-under 68 before eagling the 451-yard par-5 first hole to win the playoff and claim the WCC Individual Championship. This was Chirravuri's first individual tournament win with the Waves, and his fifth finish in the top-10 finish this season.
- Sophomore Kris Kuvaas (Houston, Texas) also finished tied for 1st with a total of 201 (70-65-66) (-15). Kuvaas tabbed a bogey free 66 with six birdies during his final round as he earned his first finish in the top-10 this year and the third such finish of his career.
- Junior Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif.) ended the tournament tied for 9th with a tournament total of 208 (71-68-69) (-8). He collected six birdies during his 3-under 69 to collect his second top-10 finish of the year and the fifth top-10 finish of his career.
- Sophomore Willy Walsh (San Mateo, Calif.) finished tied for 26th at 2-under with a 54-hole score of 214 (70-75-69). Walsh posted four birdies during his 3-under 69 on Saturday.
- Freshman Luke Bailey (Encinitas, Calif.) ended the tournament tied for 33rd with a three-round score of 217 (70-70-77) (+1). He carded a 5-over 77 with two birdies during the final round.
