Seven Pepperdine Men's Tennis Players Earn All-WCC Awards

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — For the first time in program history, seven members of the No. 25 Pepperdine men's tennis team earned All-West Coast Conference awards, the league announced on Tuesday.

Pepperdine's seven all-WCC selections led all teams in the league and set a new program record (the previous was six, which Pepperdine did in nine different seasons). Edward Winter and Maxi Homberg made the first team in singles, Linus Carlsson Halldin and Lasse Poertner made the second team, plus David Fix and Aleksa Pisaric were honorable mention selections. Edward and Hugh Winter took home first-team all-WCC doubles honors, plus the team of Carlsson Halldin and Homberg were second-team honorees.

Earning All-WCC First team honors for the second-straight season, Edward Winter enjoyed the best season of his college career in 2025. The Australian sophomore led the Waves with 14 dual match wins — all atop the singles lineup — and five wins over ranked opponents. Winter went on an eight-match win streak in March, which included big wins over No. 1 Michael Zheng and two more top-50 players. In WCC play, the onetime WCC Freshman of the Year went 4-1 and all of his wins were in straight sets.

Making the All-WCC Singles First Team for the first time in his career, Maxi Homberg finished the regular season with six dual-match wins while playing mostly at the second position. The junior from Freising, Germany earned ITA All-American honors earlier this season and has 14 wins overall this season. Homberg was ranked as high as 32nd in the ITA singles rankings and gives the Waves two NCAA Singles qualifiers in the lineup for the first time since 2013. This is Homberg's second all-conference singles award of his career.

Senior captain Linus Carlsson Halldin made the All-WCC Singles Second Team after holding down the third spot in the Waves' singles ladder this year. Carlsson Halldin has been clutch all season, clinching top-25 wins over Columbia, UCLA and Arizona State, while also posting two wins over ranked singles opponents. He has a 16-13 overall singles record this season, and his 16 wins lead the team. This is Carlsson Halldin's second all-conference singles award; he was an honorable mention selection last year.

Freshman Lasse Poertner also made the All-WCC Singles Second Team after going 4-1 in conference play this season. The highly touted recruit from Germany played everywhere from the second through fifth positions in the Pepperdine singles lineup and wrapped up the regular season by winning eight of his final 10 matches. Poertner has a 13-6 record this year and his 13 dual-match wins rank second only to Edward Winter.

Fellow freshman David Fix and Aleksa Pisaric were also named honorable mention singles selections after bolstering the bottom half of Pepperdine's lineup. Fix was a perfect 3-0 in WCC play while playing the fourth through sixth positions. All of his WCC wins were in straight sets. Ranked sixth in the preseason ITA Newcomer rankings, Fix went 11-6 in dual-match play and carries a four-match win streak into this weekend's WCC Championships.

Rounding out Pepperdine's all-conference singles award winners, Pisaric was one of four Waves to go 4-1 in league play while playing everywhere from the third through fifth singles positions. From the get-go, the Serbian wasn't afraid of the moment: He clinched Pepperdine's upset win over No. 9 Texas A&M, went on a four-match win streak in late March during the UTR Sports Collegiate Championships at the BNP Paribas Open, plus he battled back to win four three-set matches this year. He has a 10-8 record in dual-match play.

Pepperdine also had two doubles teams win all-conference awards. Leading the Pepperdine doubles lineup in their first season playing college tennis together, Edward and Hugh Winter were All-WCC First Team selections after winning five dual matches this spring. Three of the Winter brothers' five wins were against nationally ranked opponents, and the Winters helped clinch the doubles points against Columbia, Middle Tennessee State and UC Santa Barbara.

Veterans Linus Carlsson Halldin and Maxi Homberg also made the All-WCC Doubles Second Team after going 11-6 in dual-match play. The duo posted 10 wins at the second position, went unbeaten in WCC play, and also notched a top-20 win against Mississippi State during the ITA Kickoff Weekend. This is the duo's first all-conference win as a team.

The Waves will head south to San Diego for the WCC Championships, held at the Aztec Tennis Center from April 25-26. All pertinent information can be found on the men's tennis team's schedule page on pepperdinewaves.com.
