Men's Golf Finishes Third at the Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's golf team finished in third place at the Western Intercollegiate with a three-day total of 1056 (352-342-362) (+6).

In the play 6-count-5 tournament on the 6,521-yard par-70 Pasatiempo Golf Club, the 22nd-ranked Waves finished ahead of four teams ranked in the top-50, including #21 Arizona, #29 BYU, #34 UNLV and #36 Oregon. #18 San Diego State won the tournament at 6-under (1044), while #42 Stanford took second at 1-under (1049).

Highlighting the week for the Waves, Mahanth Chirravuri finished tied for 3rd, earning his fourth top-10 finish of the year, while Willy Walsh finished tied for 11th, collecting his third finish in the top-20 this season.

  • Junior Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz.) finished tied for 3rd at 6-under with a three-day total of 204 (69-65-70). Chirravuri was 2-over through nine holes during his final round, but bounced back and finished the back nine 2-under to end the day with an even 70. Chirravuri collected his fourth top-10 finish this season, and his eighth finish in the top-10 as a Wave.
  • Sophomore Willy Walsh (San Mateo, Calif.) finished the Western Intercollegiate tied for 11th with a three-day score of 209 (69-68-72) (-1). Walsh posted four birdies during his 2-over 72 on Wednesday. With his T-11th finish, Walsh earned his third finish in the top-20 this season, and the sixth such finish of his career.
  • Junior Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif.) ended the tournament tied for 30th with a three-round total of 214 (73-68-73) (+4). He collected one birdie during his 3-over 73 in the final round.
  • Freshman Luke Bailey (Encinitas, Calif.) finished tied for 42nd with a three-round score of 216 (71-70-75) (+6). Bailey tabbed a 5-over 75 with three birdies on Wednesday.
  • Sophomore Kris Kuvaas (Houston, Texas) tallied a 2-over 72 with two birdies in the final round. Kuvaas also finished tied for 42nd at 6-over with a three-day score of 216 (73-71-72).
  • Freshman Byungho Lee (Seoul, South Korea) posted a 5-over 75 with three birdies today. He ended the Western Intercollegiate tied for 47th with a total score of 217 (70-72-75) (+7).
