OCALA, Fla. – The Waves' five swimmers completed the second day of the National Invitational Championship in Florida today.

In the finals only 200 medley relay, the squad of
Layla Busquets (Diablo, Calif.),
Charli Sunahara (Chino, Calif.), Ware and
Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va.) finished 19th out of the 34 teams with a time of 1:42.16. With their top-20 finish, the Waves beat out some SEC schools including Arkansas and Kentucky.
QUOTABLES
"Today's swims were fairly strong," head coach
Ellie Monobe said. "I think it's hard to go from your championship peak meet to coming back and trying to reciprocate that in a completely different environment that's across the country and in a different time zone with not much transition or acclamation time. Our execution in some of our races could have been a little better, but overall things have been pretty good. The highlight today was our relay. To be able to beat two tenths off our best time and not in a championship environment where we're fighting a couple of teams for a title was great to see. We finished in the top-20 and beat out some SEC schools which was pretty impressive. We were sitting very well in the water and executing those 50s. Our performance in the relay was very seasoned and it showed our experience and sprint power. All-in-all, I'm excited about today and looking forward to another high note tomorrow, go Waves."
