SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Pepperdine Swim & Dive will kick off the new year Monday at 10:30 a.m. in a rematch against San Diego State. Cal State East Bay will also join the pool to make the competition a tri-meet, hosted at Aztec Aquaplex on the campus of SDSU. It will be the final time the Waves are away from Malibu, Calif. until conference championships on Feb. 25.
"We are excited to get back to action in San Diego against two familiar programs," said interim head coach Dan Marella, in advance of his first meet in the role. "I'm very proud of the work we've done over the last 5 weeks since our midseason championship, and looking forward to seeing what we can do in the midst of our hardest training block."

The Waves last faced the Aztecs on Oct. 9 in Malibu in an 83-59 loss. It will be their 32nd meeting all-time.
Cal State East Bay has faced Pepperdine three times, with the latter holding a 2-1 advantage. The series began during the 2021-22 season.
The Waves last saw action in late November. The dive team competed at the Trojan Diving Invitational. Amanda Wong led the group in the 3-meter finals with a score of 431.15.
The swim team traveled to Boise, Idaho for the Northwest Collegiate Swimming Invitational. There, they finished in second with 1946 points, behind host school Idaho (2121.5). Kylie Taylor set the team record in the 100 back with a time of 55.20. Layla Busquets, Charli Sunahara, Aliyah Fan, and Maile Sullivan also combined for a new blue and orange record—3:45.38 in the 400 medley relay.
Pepperdine will return to Raleigh Runnels on the ninth and tenth to face Fresno State.

Pepperdine swimming & diving has a rich history spanning four decades, having posted top-five finishes in its conference in 32 of 39 seasons. The Waves have captured three conference championships in the past four seasons, its first three conference titles, winning its first MPSF Championship in 2025 after joining the conference the season prior.
