OCALA, Fla. – Alexandra Browne continued her historic career as she became the first Wave in program history to become a CSCAA Nationals finalist today.
 
In the 50 free prelims, Browne (Arlington, Va.) clocked a time of 23.06 to finish in 9th and qualify for the A final. With her performance this morning, she became the first swimmer in Pepperdine's 40 year history to make a CSCAA final. Then in the A final, Browne posted a time of 23.13 to finish her 50 free career with a 10th place finish.
 
Also competing today, Layla Busquets (Diablo, Calif.) completed the 50 back in 26.62, good for 46th in the prelims, while Sophia Ware (Allen, Texas) swam the 50 fly in 25.49 to finish in 47th in the prelims.
 
In the time trials, Ansley Halbach (Watkinsville, Ga.) moved from 9th to 7th on the Waves all-time top-10 list after finishing her swim in 5:02.05.

"To be able to come back and train all over again after peaking at our conference championships is quite a physical feat. To see the results we've been seeing is really good. Alexandra Browne representing Pepperdine on the national level, getting into the championship final and finishing 10th to wrap up her career in the 50 free is incredible. It shows her dedication to her craft and her overall focus and pride for performing as a sprinter for Pepperdine. Tomorrow, Ansley Halbach will swim in the 400 IM with the prelims starting at 6:30 a.m. PT.  Additionally, Alexandra Browne, Layla Busquets, Charli Sunahara and Sophia Ware will compete in the 200 medley relay in a finals only event.
