MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine track team had a very successful weekend by breaking six school records at two meets on Friday and Saturday.
The women's team competed indoors at the University of Nevada's Wolf Pack Classic, which saw Lizzy Crawford not only break the school's 5,000 meter-run record in 17: but also set the Reno-Sparks Convention Center facility record with her time of 17:25.81. Then on Saturday, the 4x400-meter relay team of Lexi Thomas, Isabella Reyes, Maddy Ortman and Brittany Rivas shattered a nine-year-old school record by running the relay in 3:56.01.
Meanwhile at the Sunshine Open in Santa Barbara, Gordy Nilsen won the 3,000-meter run and broke the school record with a time of 8:20.53 in the men's outdoor track team's debut. Additionally, Jordan McCray, Daniel Whitaker and Henry Hicks became the first Waves to run the 60-meter, 600-meter and 1,000-meter dashes, respectively, giving them spots in the school record book.
All told, 13 new top-10 marks were run at the Wolf Pack Classic and nine new top-10s were run by the men's team at the Sunshine Open.
