Pepperdine in Fifth After One Round in Hawaii

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii. – The Pepperdine men's golf team is tied for 5th after the first round of the Amer Ari Invitational. The Waves shot a 17-under 271 on the 6,913-yard par-72 Mauna Lani North Course in today's opening round.

Pepperdine was highlighted by Nathan Han and Mahanth Chirravuri who both shot 5-under 67's today. They are currently tied for 19th.

#9 Oklahoma State is leading the tournament after a 26-under 262, while #2 Arizona State is in second after posting a 264 (-24).

PLAYER SCORES
  • Junior Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz.) posted a bogey free 5-under 67 with five birdies to open the tournament. He's tied for 19th heading into the second round.
  • Graduate Nathan Han (Somers, N.Y.) birdied his first hole of the day before collecting six consecutive pars to stay 1-under through seven. He then rattled off five birdies over his next eight holes to move to 6-under, but finished his round with a 5-under 67 and is tied for 19th. Han's 67 was his career-best score as a Wave.
  • Junior Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif.) is also tied for 26th after carding a 68 today (-4). Siravo was 2-over through seven holes, but found a rhythm and birdied six of his last 11 holes to finish 4-under.
  • Sophomore William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif.) is tied for 36th after a personal season-best 3-under 69 in the first round. After back-to-back birdies on his fourth and fifth hole of the day, he remained 2-under through eight. Walsh then found a groove and birdied three-straight holes, but ran into trouble to close his round.
  • Sophomore Byungho Lee (Seoul, South Korea) is 1-over and is tied for 86th. He collected four birdies during his opening round.
  • Competing as an individual, sophomore Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas) is tied for 26th after posting a personal season-best 4-under 68 in the opening round. Kuvaas started off hot and was 5-under with five birdies through his first nine, but bogeyed back-to-back holes shortly after. Kuvaas tallied a total of seven birdies in today's round.
