Jillian Medvecky earned her first West Coast Conference weekly honor of the season after two shutouts, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
This week, Medvecky tallied 13 saves for a shutout on the road at Santa Clara as well as at home against Gonzaga. Through five games, the Ohio native has only allowed two goals in WCC play, tied for the best in the conference. Tallying her highest save count to date Saturday, Medvecky secured eight saves against the Zags to keep a clean sheet.
Starting all matches this season, Medvecky has earned the win in seven shutouts, playing all 90 minutes in five of those. Last season, the sophomore was named defensive player of the week twice by the conference, cementing a spot on the All-WCC Freshman Team.
Pepperdine has now been honored three weeks in a row with a weekly honor after
Julia Quinonez earned back-to-back offensive player of the week awards Oct. 6 and Sept. 29. The Waves last had three consecutive weeks with an honor in the fall of 2021 when Joelle Anderson won back-to-back offensive awards before
Tori Waldeck earned her first of her collegiate career.
With no midweek games across the conference, the Waves are back in action Friday night in San Diego to take on the Toreros. Pepperdine looks to go .500 in night matches with a kickoff time of 7:00 p.m. The match will be live streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required) with live available on
