MALIBU, Calif. — A Southern California-heavy itinerary is in store for the Pepperdine track team, which announced its full 2025 indoor and outdoor schedule on Tuesday.
All 11 of Pepperdine's outdoor meets — including Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational, one of the largest track meets in the nation — will be in Southern California. Of those 11, eight are in the Los Angeles area.
Entering its 10th year of existence, the Pepperdine women's indoor track and field squad will compete three times this spring. The Waves head to Seattle for the UW Preview on Jan. 17 before wrapping up the indoor regular season at Nevada's Wolf Pack Classic on Feb. 7-8. Pepperdine will wrap up the indoor track schedule at the MPSF Championships, which will be held at The Podium in Spokane, Wash. once again from Feb. 21-22.
The first outdoor track meet for the men's squad is the Sunshine Invite, held at Westmont University in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Feb. 8. After taking nearly one month off, the full men's and women's team will make a return trip to Santa Barbara for the UCSB Gaucho Relays on March 1. This kicks off a busy month of March that features meets at Cal State Fullerton's Ben Brown/Astro Al Invitational (March 7-8), a pair of meets at UCLA (March 21-22) and UC Irvine's Vince O'Boyle Classic (March 29).
April begins with a trip south to UC San Diego for the Triton Invitational on April 4-5. Then the regular season peaks at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 16-18, when teams from every level of the sport convene at Azusa Pacific for three days of fast races.
From there, the season resumes at the Oxy Invitational on May 3 before the Waves make one last push to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary. A return trip to APU for the Franson Last Chance meet (May 10-11) and one final competition at the Redlands Last Chance meet (May 14-15) wrap up the regular season.
Should any Wave advance to the postseason, the NCAA West Preliminary will be held at Texas A&M from May 28-31. The last Pepperdine athlete to compete at the West Preliminary was Karl Winter, who did so in 2021 and 2022. The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. from June 11-14. Pepperdine has never made the NCAA Championships in the modern era.
Last season the Waves ran 66 (37 outdoor and 29 indoor) new top-10 times and broke six school records in head coach Lauren Floris' third season.
