SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The Pepperdine men's golf team got the 2024-25 campaign underway, playing 36-holes at the Sahalee Players Championship on Saturday. The Waves shot a 5-under 571 (284-287), which put them in second-place at the par-72, 7,007-yard Sahalee Country Club.
Pepperdine is five shots ahead of #19 Oklahoma State in third and five shot behind #2 Arizona State for the lead after two rounds. The Waves also outperformed eight teams ranked in Golfweek's top-25 preseason poll, including #9 Florida, #10 North Carolina, #15 Arizona and #18 Texas.
Pepperdine got off to a hot start, tying for first-place with the Sun Devils through a large portion of the first round. They stayed solid in the second and finished with four players in the top-15 and two in the top-eight. Sophomore
William Walsh led the pack, having shot a 3-under 141 overall to tie for second at the end of the day. There are four players tied for second alongside him, while Arizona State's Preston Summerhays is in the lead after marking a 5-under 139. Junior

th heading into the final round tomorrow.
The Waves will finish out the tournament paired with the Sun Devils and Cowboys, beginning at 8:26 a.m. tomorrow on hole one.
PLAYER SCORES
- Sophomore William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Junipero Serra HS) led the Waves with a 3-under 141 (71-70) through two rounds of action. He began the day with a bogey before settling down to finish the back nine errorless. After making the turn, he shot 4-under through seven bogeyless holes, though he finished with another pair of bogeys. He kept composure in the second round, recording a bogey on hole 12 before rallying to birdie on holes 18, two and six to finish. He had seven birdies in total.
- Junior Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC) led the Waves and was third among all competitors with nine birdies on the day, finishing tied for eighth with a 143 (72-71). He had a pair of birdies in his first nine holes, but remained even through the turn, splitting another birdie and bogey on the back nine to close the round. It was a similar story in his second round after opening with a pair of birdies before evening out once again four holes later. Though he marked a birdie on 18, he split a pair of birdies and bogeys once again in his final nine holes to end the day.
- Sophomore Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) also shot a 143 (70-73) to tie for eighth. He began the day 3-under through a bogeyless nine holes to sit in the individual lead for a few holes in the morning. He would pick up another pair of birdies on the front nine, though a trio of bogeys plagued his round to finish 2-under into the break. After finishing with par on 10 to open the second round, he birdied 11 and bogeyd 12 to remain even early on. He would play through the next 13 holes without an error, even birdying hole two, but another pair of bogeys would close the round.
- Freshman Luke Bailey (Encinitas, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) had a solid showing for his collegiate debut, finishing with a 144 (71-73) to tie for 15th. He battled through an early bogey in the first round and record three birdies in six holes after the turn to go 2-under. He bogeyed hole eight, but finished strong with par on nine to head into the break under. After three birdies and only one bogey on the back nine to begin the second round, he was in a good position, though another bogey on five would set him back. He rallied with a birdie on six, but tripled on his final hole of the day.
- Junior Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) shot a 148 (73-75) to tie for 39th. He had four birdies throughout the day, including three in his final nine holes in the first round.
- Graduate Nathan Han (Somers, N.Y./Somers HS/Columbia) is tied for 78th, while competing as an individual, having put up a 168 (85-83).
