Waves in Second Through Two Rounds at Tindall Invitational

KING COUNTY, Wash. – The #25 Pepperdine men's golf team is in second-place after shooting an impressive 15-under 553 (275-278) through 36-holes at The Tindall, a University of Washington-hosted tournament played at the par-71, 7,016-yard Aldarra Golf Club.

The Waves had three in the top-20, led by a stellar performance by freshman Luke Bailey, who is tied for second after posting an 8-under 134 (65-69) through 36-holes.  His 6-under 65 in the first round, including his first collegiate hole-in-one, tied for fifth in the Pepperdine record books for lowest 18-hole score by a freshman.  He is one shot behind Utah's Davis Johnson in the lead. Juniors Brady Siravo and Mahanth Chirravuri also had strong days, tying for 14th and 18th respectively.

Utah holds the team, five strokes ahead of the Waves, while Cal is tied up with Pepperdine.  Arizona and South Carolina round out the top-five, three and seven-shots behind the Waves.

Pepperdine will tee off beginning at 9:05 a.m. tomorrow, paired with Utah and Cal on hole one.

PLAYER SCORES
  • Freshman Luke Bailey (Encinitas, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) amassed eight birdies and an eagle throughout the day.  He started with a pair of birdies in his first four holes before making his first turn of the day.  He continued on the back with a birdie on 12 before picking up his first collegiate hole-in-one for an eagle on 13.  After staying flawless through the rest of the back nine, he kicked off the front with a birdie, bogey, birdie combo before finishing for par to close the round.  He started his second round with another pair of birdies to move into first-place.  After splitting holes 12 and 13 with a birdie and bogey, he finished out the round even par on every other hole for second-place to end the day.
  • Junior Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) is tied for 14th with a 138 (68-70).  He had a strong first round with a trio of birdies in his first flawless 13-holes.  He bogeyed on five before picking up another birdie to end the round.  His second round was a bit more up-and-down, though seven birdies, including two to start the round, a pair on 17 and 18 and three in his final four holes, helped his cause.  He is tied for fourth among competitors for most birdies today.
  • Junior Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC) finished with a 14 (72-68) to tie for 18th.  He started his day with a bogey, but rallied with a pair of birdies on seven and 11 followed by an eagle on 12.  He was plagued with a few more bogeys throughout the round to fall back, though he started 5-under in her first eight holes of the second round to jump up 14-spots.  He did post another pair of bogeys in the final round, but held his efforts in the top-20.
  • Sophomore Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) is tied for 23rd with a 141 (70-71). He amassed five birdies throughout the day and had an eagle on the 11th in the first round.
  • Sophomore William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Junipero Serra HS) shot a 144 (72-72) to tie for 44th.   He totaled five birdies, including a trio in the second round of the day.
  • Junior Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS/Washington) is tied for 31st with a 143 (69-74), competing as an individual.  He tallied three birdies and an eagle in the first round before adding another six birdies in the second round.
